The most accesible part of the Amazon rain forest is in Ecuador! Panama hats are originally from Ecuador. They are handcrafted in Ecuador. They were brought to Panama in one of the journeys of Eloy Alfaro to that country where they fell in love with them. Native Ecuadorians speak Kichwa or Runa Shimi, which means the language of the human beings. Quito is considered "luz de America" because it was its people who first spoke up and died for independece in 1809. August 10, 1809, Ecuadorian Independence Day. The day it all began for this Republic.

Ecuador seems to be one of the most fabulous and lovely places on Earth. I'd like to retire to Cuenca. Does the government make that easy or difficult? I know the current president, Correa, doesn't like the US much and is a friend of Chavez -- but does that have any effect on gringos who want to retire there? Viva Ecuador -- !siempre!

@caredg many people from ecuador me being ecuadorian myself do eat cuy. however the ecuadorians that live in the USA and have been brought up here in the united states are less knowledgable of these trends simply because we have been americanized.

@caredg probably talkin about the guinea pigs there although u can get them here in america the guinea pigs here are not as adorable as the ones in ecuador

ECUADOR es un país hermoso..soy ecuatoriano y creo q tanta diversidad en un país pequeño pero grande de corazón no se lo encuentra en cualquier lado..q te invita a solo pararte y disfrutar del paisaje donde estes ...GRACIAS soy Cuencano.. Ecuatoriano...Sudamericano y nosotros haremos lo posible para q la gente se sienta en casa al visitar nuestro país..

Wow, estuve en Ecuador y conozco una buena parte desde Ipiales (Colombia) hasta Guayaquil, un pais que tiene demasiadas cosas para ver, la cultura es muy interezante y la comida ni que decir, alla comi por primera vez Cuy!!!, X) y aca en Canada para deshacerme de un chinito remamon decidi mostrarle lo que le iba a pasar a su Guinea Pig si seguia siendo fastidioso.... X) debuenas que decidio irse y dejarme en paz!!!!

@Tha0wn4g3 i spent a long time in coca on the napo river in ecuador. we used insect replent, then i started using what the indians used, they would set the bulk on a cocanut, set it in fire then blow it out, lit the smoke get all over you. best there is even though it stinks

I'd just like to draw more attention to what chevron and the oil industry is doing to Ecuador as the post below has mentioned. From what I've seen Ecuador is an amazing and beautiful country, it will be sad to loose it to pollution.
