@jaydoubleyouess agreed... bizarre is an understatement!
I'm at peace.
@Reublucian321 So true. Natural pleasure and enjoyment gets compromised when others dig in too deeply.
@ryuu304 Weather Systems have the original one, the daytrotter version, I do not know.
Hey Andrew Bird, I might be lame but I'm still going to relate to this song. Asshole. :)
This is a beautiful song. A beautiful video. Why do people always need to analyze and understand everything they see? Just let the beauty be. Appreciate. Keep living life. :)
which album is this in?
most definitely the most bizarre music video in history. that being said, phenomenal song.
I thought this video (literal sense) was about a man who finds a squid and falls in love. The squid feels the same way but upon his visit he remembers his wife and doesn't want the squid to touch him because he is conflicted. Which makes the squid upsets so he tries to give the squid a peace offering, (a lobster) which pisses off the squid. He goes back to his wife and packs up his things and leaves. Him and the squid are happy but one day the squid accidentally kills him... I think.
Beautiful!
@Gibsonway My take on this is that the man and his wife have grown apart, he decides to see what other 'fish' are in the sea, gets hooked by a beautiful squid but is then just as unable to meet the squid's needs/wants as he was unable to meet to meet his human wife's needs. Which then leads me to Bukowski's poem 'The Laughing Heart". Check it out, it'll do you good...
@dreDREb13 The instrumental is part of the song, not distinct from it. If you like this sort of music, you might like a collaborative CD by Yo-Yo Ma and Ennio Morricone (forget the name right now). Everyone knows Yo-Yo, Ennio is a long-standing composer of music for the film industry (in my youth I fell in love with his music for Cat People). The intro to this piece of music is very similar to Ennio's music for a film called 'The Mission' - check it out!
And that kids, is why you don't play with squids.
@anstar31 I love how you try to empathise with the squid
thank you 4 this video!!!!
@Gibsonway i think the squid kills the man. first time around after they make love the man shuns the squid from touching him and by offering it a lobster but it rejects and he goes down realizing what wrong he did. Goes home and decides to leave his wife and pack up and goes and finds squid again, but squid is different towards him. tosses him around and he lands on the squids spike and murdered. maybe because she it felt used and wanted revenge or got crazy.
@MoinsterB yah just listen to the music :) love this song...
Andrew Bird is a musical genius.
the part with the squid leg behind him with the fish is reallt cool
Very melancholy song that goes extremely well with the animation. Wonderful!
i am in love with this video!!
la animación está demasiado buena.. Y la canción.. uffffff.. :D finísima.
The Weathersystems version is wonderful too...I love this song in any form.
yes, his voice is very reminiscent of Jeff Buckley - so ethereal. What a song.
Wow. And to think I wouldn't have heard this had I not been watching a mental patient named Andrew talk about his life on YT. For a second I thought he was a relation to Jeff Buckley with that voice. Absolutely amazing.
